The Provinzial Group, the second largest public insurer in Germany, is becoming a member of the InsurTech Hub Munich (ITHM) and is thus focusing on the exchange of know-how and experience with the Munich-based InsurTech Hub, which focuses on innovation and digitalization.
With its traditional regional insurers, the Provinzial Group is firmly rooted in its respective business areas in North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Hamburg and parts of Rhineland-Palatinate. With its more than 1,250 agencies, which guarantee high-quality support, Provinzial is characterized in particular by its geographical proximity to its customers. This proximity naturally also plays a major role digitally. The insurer therefore constantly focuses on clever technologies and digital solutions that ensure proximity and accessibility to its customers across all channels and optimize them for the future.

"As a partner of the InsurTech Hub Munich , we can now play an even more active role in shaping the digital transformation in the insurance industry," says Patric Fedlmeier, Deputy CEO of Provinzial. "It is a fantastic opportunity to drive forward creative ideas for digitalization together with national and international members from the insurance industry as well as with cross-industry players."
The InsurTech Hub Munich (ITHM) is a non-profit innovation platform that brings together international and national insurance companies, strategic partners, start-ups and investors, among others, to digitize the industry and align it more closely with customer needs. With topic-related innovation programs, such as the FIN:SURE program geared towards the future of life insurance, the ITHM identifies a large number of use cases in its network that are geared towards the development and implementation of sustainable business models or product solutions for insurers and start-ups. The content of the programs is based on the core topics of ITHM members and partners. The second edition of the 'H+ Digital Health Innovation Program' and the topic of process optimization with a focus on the digital customer journey within the 'NXT:CUSTOMER' program are planned for 2022.
Johannes Wagner, Head of Startup Cooperation at Versicherungskammer Bayern and ITHM Board Member, adds: "We are delighted to have gained another public insurer, Provinzial, which is one of the top players on the German market. With its broad product portfolio, Provinzial can draw on the full potential of ITHM's various innovation programs and formats. The new addition and the partnerships also concluded in 2021 with Migdal Insurance from Israel and the management consultancy Oliver Wyman bring different perspectives and expertise to our ITHM community and show that the exchange on the topic of innovation does not stop at national borders."
