“BaFin Pop-up Embassy”Makes Its Debut in Munich: As part of the TECH ACCELERATOR DAY hosted by the InsurTech Hub Munich in mid-October 2026, founders from Germany and abroad were able to direct all their questions to the expert team from the Federal Financial Supervisory Authority (BaFin). For example: Does my insurtech company need a license? What obligations apply to insurance intermediaries? What does the AI Regulation mean for my business model?
The one-on-one meetings with BaFin at WERK1 were booked up in no time. During the discussions, it quickly became clear that the startups and scaleups are very much aware of governance and regulatory issues. They want to understand the guardrails very precisely in order to avoid unnecessary complications on their path to growth. BaFin as a partner, as an enabler of trust-based innovation in and for Germany—this role was clearly cemented at the “Pop-up Embassy.”
