Technology enables, experience wins: Attracting the most exciting startups, the best tech approaches, and the most creative ideas for the insurance industry; being a driver of digitalization and innovation – that is the ambition of InsurTech Hub Munich (ITHM).
As State Minister Hubert Aiwanger expressed it at his reception in the Bavarian State Ministry for Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy on September 29, 2026, the ITHM lives up to this claim: “The InsurTech Hub Munich is a success story for Bavaria as an insurance and innovation hub. For ten years, it has been bringing together the right partners to transform new technologies into concrete solutions for the insurance industry. This exchange is more important than ever, especially with regard to artificial intelligence. The ITHM helps our insurance industry remain innovative and competitive.
The State Minister had invited the board, advisory councils, and long-time partners of the ITHM not only to an anniversary celebration, but also to discuss with them: How can we create the conditions for new technologies to be implemented more quickly?
Given the ever-increasing pace of change, the ITHM is more important than ever as a platform for the industry, emphasizes Dr. Markus Juppe , VKB board member and ITHM advisory board chairman. Johannes Wagner , senior manager at the Versicherungskammer Group and a founding member of the ITHM board, underlines that the first step is to engage the people, the employees of the insurance industry – and inspire them with a passion for the new.
ITHM Managing Director Dr. Joachim Ziegler emphasizes that since its founding, ITHM has not only strengthened Bavaria's economic position from within, but also boosted its international appeal. Rosalie Kolb , Director of Partnerships at the InsurTech Hub, explains its recipe for success: "Through continuous exchange and thinking outside the box, we create a diversity of perspectives." Dr. Klaus Driever , Managing Director at Allianz and Chairman of the Hub's Board, sums it up in a memorable sentence: "ITHM is Silicon Valley on our doorstep."
