Eight weeks, nine start-ups - the InsurTechs of tomorrow presented themselves in Munich

The W1 Forward InsurTech Accelerator, one of two accelerator programs of the InsurTech Hub Munich, took place for the third time at WERK1 at Munich Ostbahnhof. After nine national and international InsurTech start-ups were selected from a total of 75 applications for the accelerator program at the beginning of May, the founders went through a mentoring program over the past 60 days and took part in numerous workshops and networking events. The aim of the program was to share knowledge and to further develop the start-ups' products and solutions and make them ready for the market.

The final "Demo Day" took place on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at which the start-ups presented their results to a selected jury, investors, potential cooperation partners from the insurance industry and interested parties.

Dr. Florian Mann, Managing Director of WERK1.Bayern GmbH and founding member of InsurTech Hub Munich e.V.: "We are very satisfied with the third batch of the W1Forward Accelerator. We were able to actively support the nine start-ups, each of which we supported with a package worth around 50,000 euros for mentoring, networking events and infrastructure, with product development through our 55 mentors and coaches. We are particularly pleased that we were able to successfully connect the companies with large VCs, business angels and key players from the reinsurance and insurance industry to further drive their growth."

The fourth batch of the W1 Forward Accelerator will start at the beginning of 2019. Exact dates will be announced shortly on werk1.com and insurtech-munich.com. The focus topics this time will once again be cyber security, artificial intelligence, telematics, blockchain and other relevant areas that are of great importance for the digitalization of the insurance industry.
