Once again ITHM had the pleasure of co-hosting the biggest conference in InsurTech, the Digital Insurance Agenda

The InsurTech Hub Munich and Digital Insurance Agenda continue their partnership by hosting the fifth edition of the biggest tech and innovation conference series for the insurance industry, once again in the insurance capital of Germany: Munich. Two days packed with inspiration, no less than 1,000 decision makers representing 50 countries from all 6 continents, and more than 50 of the world’s most innovative new technology providers to discuss and dig deep into insurance solutions with, made DIA Munich 2018 a great success! DIA once again demonstrated international networking and digital intelligence at its best.

The theme of this year’s fall edition was ‘creating superpowers in existing ecosystems’. New advanced technologies give superpowers to customers and insurers alike, so it was explained by Roger Peverelli and Reggy de Feniks, Founders of the DIA community. 50 handpicked startups demonstrated exactly how they plan to support insurance companies to drive the transformation of the whole industry. All InsurTech Hub Munich members agreed, the value really is that you can ‘speed-date’ all these startups and get a comprehensive view of the possible solutions to our changing value chain. This year, speakers from no less than 28 countries took to the stage, each of them unleashing their superpowers for customers, carriers, platforms and ecosystems alike.

ITHM DIA Award for ‘Transformative Power’
This year, InsurTech Hub Munich had the pleasure of awarding one out of the 50 startups with an award for its transformative impact. Our members were looking for truly disruptive ideas to the industry. Many startups presenting at  DIA Munich introduced valid concepts focusing on fixing pain points in the current value chain, from the claims process to information gathering for underwriting, to sales funnels. But we were looking for a startup with massive impact on the traditional insurance value chain, someone who doesn’t just play it safe! And the winner is … HiNounou, from Singapore, provides an ecosystem and platform, offering seniors and their families with a one-stop home wellness solution. HiNounou is on a mission to empower senior citizens across the world to live alonger, healthier and happier life –  at home. HiNounou is a holistic and innovative home wellness solution. It is powered by AI, IoT, Blockchain, and Genomics. HiNounou’s platform and ecosystem are already being used by AXA Partners China and Ping An.
They won an exclusive meet&greet with our ITHM board and will be flown to the Plug and Play Winter Expo in Silicon Valley to present their concept to another audience of experts and investors.

W1 Forward InsurTech Batch 3 Pitches
To end two intense days of startup ‘show and tells’, four startups from our current early-stage accelerator W1 Forward InsurTech batch demoed their concepts on stage. Twingz, Kruzr, Prewave and e-bot7 did a fantastic job conveying how their startups add value to the insurance value chain. It was clear we weren’t the only ones to see the potential in their ideas, as e-bot7 won one of the highly acclaimed, DIAmond Awards, based on attendee voting.

A big shout-out and thank you goes out to Roger Peverelli, Reggy de Feniks and the whole DIA team, for organising another fantastic event, to all amazing startups that continue to strive for a bigger and better insurance world,  to all our members and partners for supporting us at our booth and endless positive conversations and last but not least to Dr. Bernhard Schwab, Head of the Office of the State Ministry of Economy, Energy and Technology, for taking the time to discussing how we can jointly strengthen innovation in the insurance industry even further!

If you are interested in insurtech, why not join us at the next DIA Munich and see it all for yourself?
